“I can honestly say that not only is he one of the most knowledgeable Taiji masters that I have worked with and I have worked with many over the last 42+ years, but he is one of the most humble and fun to be with.

It is not easy to find knowledgeable teachers especially ones who are also honorable, down to earth and kind as my friend and Sifu Dr. John K. Fung. I hope to train with him for many years to come.”

Sifu Gunnar Siebel
Long-time Tai Chi practitioner and teacher

“After more than 25 years of Yang-style Tai Chi, I had the great fortune to come across Dr. John Fung and make contact with him. From the beginning he was very open and I quickly felt a special connection that was new to me in this way.

I had the honour of him holding his first Tai Chi workshop in Germany at my Tai Chi school. It was very instructive and all the participants were enthusiastic and had a lot of fun at the same time.

Sifu Dr. John Fung combines ‘civil’ and ‘martial’ in a perfect way, just as the old Tai Chi masters recommended in their writings. Thanks to his linguistic proficiency, his deep understanding of the matter and his many years of experience, he is able to decrypt and demystify the ancient sources and explain them in an understandable way. On a technical level, his skills are absolutely impressive and convincing. He openly and naturally shares content that is otherwise very rarely taught. His books are a valuable treasure and are highly recommended for studying and working through.

Thanks to him I understood the Shen-Yi-Qi concept and thus the core of Tai Chi practice, which has also had a positive effect on my entire life. His own constant research and self-discipline are exemplary and encourage me not to let myself down, but to continue on my path with cheerfulness.

I consider it a blessing that the contact and exchange with Sifu Dr. John Fung has come about and I hope that many more years and meetings will follow. I bow my head in gratitude and respect.”

“Dr. Fung stands out in my mind as an exemplar of excellence. I’ve come to know Dr. Fung as a teacher who rests his message on practicality and effective manifestation. Dr. Fung works diligently to promote understanding of the basic principles (he’s usually busy with research and writing on a myriad of topics both around martial arts and the spiritual traditions associated with meditation). He’s a gifted workshop presenter, blending a serious approach to the subject with a light hearted sense of humor.

And finally, having pushed hands and practiced with some of the preeminent players in North America I can report that the Kung Fu I encounter in the touch of Dr. Fung is second to none.

I’m ever grateful for having encountered his presence in my life and can unequivocally encourage others to do so as well.”

Dr. Patrick Hürtgen
Long-term Tai Chi practitioner

“As a Yang-style Tai Chi practitioner with over 22 years of experience, I had the great fortune of meeting Sifu Dr. John Fung at an Imperial Yang Tai Chi Workshop in Bonn, which I co-organized with Gunnar Siebel. With his rich martial arts background and as 6th generation lineage holder following Grand Master Wei Shuren, who studied under Grand Master Wang Yongquan, Dr. Fung truly embodies the essence of Tai Chi tradition. His contributions, both through workshops and books, are invaluable to the martial arts community.

Dr. Fung’s deep understanding of internal Tai Chi methods, combined with his impressive martial arts abilities, left a lasting impression on me. He has a unique ability to demystify complex concepts, blending profound philosophical insights with practical applications. This balance was evident in his workshop, where he delivered wisdom in a joyful and engaging atmosphere.

Learning from Dr. Fung has been transformative, not only for my Tai Chi practice but also in shaping my broader perspective on martial arts and life. I am deeply grateful for his generous knowledge sharing and constant encouragement. His humility, approachability, and dedication make him an exemplary teacher, and I look forward to many more years of learning from him.”

“Dr. John Fung has conducted several workshops at Wu Lin Martial & Healing Arts Retreat for me over many years. He is a very popular presenter and teaches with passion and integrity. John is a rarity in the martial and healing arts fraternity; his professional and caring approach to presenting traditional principles of Chinese Martial Arts is done with a balance of intelligence and humour. He is very creative in his explanation of age-old teachings and is happy to touch hands with all participants to not only hear but feel his lesson. We look forward to hosting him again in the near future.”

“As an exercise physiologist and sports scientist, I greatly enjoyed Dr John Fung’s one-on-one sessions in practical tensiometrics for power development. Dr. Fung’s extensive knowledge in traditional Chinese medicine techniques, has provided invaluable learning opportunities that can significantly benefit my professional practice.

Dr. Fung’s sessions offered practical insights and hands-on applications that related to flexibility, strength, and mental focus. His unique approach integrates the principles of mind, body, and Qi, offering a valuable complement to traditional training methods.

I highly recommend Dr. John Fung to those looking for educational opportunities to deepen their understanding of tensiometrics and its effect on health and sports.

Thank you, Dr. Fung, for providing such transformative learning experiences and enhancing my approach to health and sports performance through the power of Qi.”
