To Whom it May Concern.
I have known Dr. John Fung for approximately 10 years.
During this time, I had the good fortune to become one of his US students in 2015 originally in El Paso, TX.
I have sponsored him many times over these last 10 years for workshops and insights to Imperial Yang Tai Chi at my El Paso school and now in Alamogordo, NM.
I have also traveled with him to Santa Fe, NM & Colorado Springs, Co. for workshops at Tai Chi schools at these locations.
We traveled to Sydney, Australia to work with him in 2018.
He taught here in Alamogordo in 2022 and we anxiously await his return visit in 2025.
After all this time together, I can honestly say that not only is he one of the most knowledgeable Taiji masters that I have worked with and I have worked with many over the last 42+ years, but he is one of the most humble and fun to be with.
To understand his insights to the Internal arts, one should read some of his great books giving info to deeper Internal methods that few know or practice. For example, “Practical Tensiometrics” his book on how power is developed with little or no muscle or size using the “Iron Wires” of the body with proper training and focus one can “create a series of interconnected high tensile steel springs” to quote his book.
Another great example of his insights is Dr. Fung’s follow up book on “Yi” dealing with training the “Mind” to Supercharge one’s training. This specifically introduces methodology taught to the “Inner Door” disciples of
Yang family Taiji and was rarely taught publicly, so much of it was lost. This book, with may illustrations, make it easy to understand and develop skills not commonly taught in the Taiji world.Lastly, I want to mention his latest offering on a Chinese classic the “Tao Te Ching and Internal Martial Arts”.
Not just another translation but a different insight to Internal Martial Arts training using the wisdom from this ancient manuscript. Is an eye opener. In closing: It is not easy to find knowledgeable teachers especially ones who are also honorable, down to earth and kind as my friend and Sifu Dr. John K. Fung. I hope to train with him for many years to come.
Xie, xie.
Sincerely, Sifu Raymond Lee Abeyta
